Kunkka + Windranger

Why this works

Facing this duo often feels less coordinated than expected. Kunkka’s entire combo relies on setting up with X Marks the Spot, which displaces an enemy hero. This movement frequently ruins the angle for Windranger’s Shackleshot, which needs a static target lined up with a tree or another unit. Conversely, if Windranger lands a long-duration shackle, Kunkka’s Ghostship still has a significant travel time, and he might not be in position to contribute his full burst. Their methods of initiating a kill are fundamentally at odds, leading to inefficient and disjointed attacks where one hero’s setup actively interferes with the other's.

Throughout the game, this lack of synergy means fights often break down into two separate skirmishes. Windranger will find a pickoff with Focus Fire, or Kunkka will land a big boat, but rarely do these moments combine for a decisive teamfight win. The two heroes end up competing for similar farm-heavy roles and needing specific setups that don't overlap. This forces them to play for individual advantages rather than as a cohesive pair, making it much easier for an opponent to anticipate their moves and punish their uncoordinated initiations before they can gain any real momentum.
