Legion Commander + Lion

Why this works

Setting up a Duel for Legion Commander looks easy on paper with a Lion around. The plan is straightforward: Lion uses Earth Spike or Hex to hold a target still, letting Legion Commander walk in and start a clean Duel. Once the fight is locked, Lion's Finger of Death adds a huge amount of burst damage to help secure the kill. This makes picking off a single isolated hero a clear and simple objective for both players to coordinate around. It’s a classic single-target takedown that requires very little practice to understand.

In a real game, however, this combination is very predictable. Seeing Lion and Legion Commander missing from the map or moving together signals the gank attempt, letting enemies play safer or prepare a counter-initiation. While Lion’s lockdown is helpful for starting the Duel, it does nothing to stop the target’s allies from piling on and turning the fight. If the enemy has defensive items like a Glimmer Cape or saves from their own supports, the kill isn't guaranteed. Success often depends more on isolating a truly helpless target than on the specific synergy between these two heroes.
