Lion + Night Stalker

Why this works

Locking down a single hero forever sounds like a guaranteed kill, but the reality is more complicated. Lion can certainly set up for Night Stalker with Earth Spike or Hex, but Night Stalker often wants to initiate ganks himself. The result is a lot of overlapping single-target control. While chaining Crippling Fear with Lion's disables can completely neutralize one enemy, it leaves the pair vulnerable if another opponent shows up. This combination adds certainty to a pickoff, but it doesn't fundamentally change what either hero wants to do on their own or enable new strategies.

The entire game plan revolves around the first night cycle. Lion and Night Stalker will try to move together to hunt for kills and build a lead. If they succeed, they can create a lot of pressure. However, smart opponents will anticipate this by grouping up and playing defensively, denying the isolated targets this duo needs. In larger teamfights, their combined focus on a single hero can be a weakness, as they lack the area-of-effect damage or control to handle a full engagement. This makes their success conditional on the early game going well; if they can't secure those initial pickoffs, their impact tends to fade.
