Lion + Omniknight

Why this works

Pairing these two heroes often means choosing between two different game plans. Lion wants to play aggressively, using his lockdown to initiate on a target and burst them down from the start of a fight. Omniknight, on the other hand, excels at reactive play, waiting for the enemy to commit before turning the engagement with a well-timed save from Heavenly Grace or Guardian Angel. Because their ideal timings are so different—one wants to start the fight, the other wants to react to it—their abilities don't build on each other in a meaningful way.

This can lead to a disjointed feeling in teamfights. A game plan that favors Lion's pickoff potential with Hex and Earth Spike might leave the team too spread out for Omniknight to effectively protect everyone. If the team instead groups up to play a slower, more defensive style around Omniknight, Lion often loses the space and flanking angles he needs to find key targets. The result isn't a disaster, but the team can struggle to execute a single, coherent strategy, which keeps either hero from having their maximum impact.
