Lion + Pugna

Why this works

Stacking this much single-target magic damage can look great on paper. Lion’s lockdown provides a perfect setup for Pugna to land Decrepify, massively amplifying Lion’s own Finger of Death for a near-guaranteed kill. The issue is that this combo requires both heroes to commit to the same spot, and neither of them is durable or mobile. They are a glass cannon duo that doubles down on magical burst without shoring up any defensive weaknesses. If they get initiated on or silenced before they can execute their spell sequence, they both tend to fall over without much of a fight.

This forces them to play together constantly, often leading to slower farm and ceded map control elsewhere. The entire game plan revolves around getting those early kills and immediately transitioning to a tower with Pugna’s Nether Blast. If that snowball gets rolling, it's effective. But smarter teams will exploit this. They'll use vision to avoid the gank squad or use mobile heroes to jump on them from an unexpected angle. Once you separate Lion from Pugna or survive their initial burst, their game plan quickly falls apart.
