Lion + Sven

Why this works

Setting up a kill with Lion's lockdown feels straightforward. His Hex and Earth Spike can hold a single enemy in place, giving Sven an easy window to land Storm Hammer and start hitting. The combo offers a lot of control on one hero, but the main issue is that both heroes often need their own Blink Daggers to make these plays happen. Lion provides no way to get Sven into the fight or help him stick to targets once his stun wears off. It's a partnership where each hero has to find their own angle of attack, even when aiming for the same enemy.

This duo lives and dies by their ability to secure pickoffs. If Lion can find an isolated hero and set up a kill for a God's Strength Sven, they can build a lead by controlling the map. The plan falls apart against teams that group up early and force five-on-five fights. In those bigger engagements, Sven wants to be cleaving multiple people, and Lion’s single-target control is less valuable than large area-of-effect lockdown or a strong defensive save would be. This makes the success of the lane really dependent on the enemy's game plan.
