Lion + Treant Protector

Why this works

Stacking disables from these two heroes can feel like overkill. Lion and Treant Protector both bring powerful, long-cooldown lockdown. A target caught in Overgrowth is an easy mark for Hex and Earth Spike, but this is often more control than is needed for one kill. The main issue is redundancy. Both heroes are slow and their spells are best for setting up kills. When you have two setup heroes, you can lack the follow-up damage or mobility to translate that one kill into broader map pressure, creating a slow-paced game that doesn't always favor them.

This slow tempo defines their partnership. An early gank with Overgrowth into a full Lion combo is effective, but then both heroes have significant downtimes. Neither farms particularly fast, so they struggle to build the items they need, like a Blink Dagger for Lion, to keep the pressure up. The enemy team gets a lot of breathing room between these gank attempts. If the initial pick-offs don't snowball into objectives, the duo falls behind as more mobile or faster-farming lineups take control of the map and out-scale them.
