Lion + Vengeful Spirit

Why this works

Stacking single-target stuns in lane sounds better than it often is. Both Lion and Vengeful Spirit have lockdown that's best as follow-up, which can lead to awkward overlaps if you're not careful. While a Nether Swap can perfectly set up a Hex or Earth Spike, it's a play that puts Venge deep in enemy territory. Their kits also have some conflicting priorities. Vengeful Spirit's armor reduction and damage aura are great for physical cores, but they don't do anything to amplify Lion’s magical burst from Finger of Death. The potential for a pickoff is there, but it's not a clean setup for a wider teamfight.

Their whole game revolves around finding isolated targets. Lion can roam with Vengeful Spirit, using Wave of Terror for vision before they commit their stuns. A good Nether Swap into Lion's full combo deletes a key hero, but that's a high-stakes play for Venge. Against grouped enemies, both heroes can struggle to find an angle, as they lack the area-of-effect control needed to swing a major fight. Success hinges on executing those ganks, because they don't offer as much coordinated teamfight impact as other support pairings.
