Lion + Visage

Why this works

Picking these two heroes together is a bet on deleting one enemy at a time. Lion brings the reliable setup with Hex and Earth Spike, holding a target completely still for a long duration. That gives Visage a perfect window to land his Familiars, build up Soul Assumption charges, and apply Grave Chill without the target being able to fight back. If the initial burst from the Familiars isn't quite enough, Lion's Finger of Death is there to finish the job. It's a very straightforward plan for securing kills during ganks.

The issue is that both heroes can end up trying to do the same thing. Visage is already excellent at finding his own pickoffs, using his Familiars' Stone Form to set up his burst. Adding Lion to the mix can feel like overkill, dedicating two heroes to a job one could often do alone. This can leave the team with gaps in other areas, like sustained damage or wave clear. If the initial burst fails because of a save or a misplay, both Lion and Visage have used their key spells and are left vulnerable.
