Mirana + Venomancer

Why this works

Trying to set up a kill with this duo often feels like a missed opportunity. Mirana relies on a target being locked down to land a decisive Sacred Arrow, but Venomancer's kit is entirely based on slows and damage-over-time. While a Venomous Gale can make it easier to land an Arrow, it's far from a guarantee against any hero with an escape or a bit of turn speed. Both heroes excel at layering their damage onto a target someone else has stunned, but when they're together, neither can provide that initial, reliable lockdown.

This core issue scales poorly as the game progresses. In teamfights, the pair can put out a lot of area-of-effect damage, but they struggle to eliminate high-priority targets. An enemy core can often activate a Black King Bar, ignore the poison and Starstorm, and simply walk through the fight. Without a way to reliably hold a key hero down, Mirana and Venomancer find their damage is often healed or mitigated, leaving them unable to secure the clean pickoffs needed to take control of the map.
