Muerta + Pangolier

Why this works

Sharing the map's resources can be a real problem for this pair, as both heroes tend to occupy core roles and need items to be effective. This often leads to one of them falling behind. Mechanically, they work against each other in fights. Pangolier’s Rolling Thunder is great for disruption, but it bounces enemies all over the place, making it incredibly difficult for Muerta to focus down a single target with her ultimate. The Calling also loses a lot of its value as a zoning tool when enemies are being knocked out of its area of effect instead of being kited through it.

The result is a major clash in timings and teamfight goals. Pangolier wants to find a good Rolling Thunder and cause chaos from the moment he hits his first major timing. Muerta often needs another item or two beyond that before her damage output during Pierce the Veil is truly threatening. This mismatch means Pangolier can find himself initiating a fight his carry isn't equipped to follow up on. An opponent can exploit this by punishing Pangolier's aggression, knowing that Muerta lacks the damage to turn the fight around early on.
