Muerta + Skywrath Mage

Why this works

Picking these two together means you're doubling down on a magic burst strategy. The issue is that while both Muerta and Skywrath Mage unload tons of damage, neither provides the hard lockdown the other needs to make sure their spells connect. Skywrath's Ancient Seal perfectly amps the damage from Muerta's Pierce the Veil, but her fear and his slow often aren't enough to hold someone down. They end up offering similar tools without covering a shared weakness: a lack of reliable stuns and a vulnerability to being jumped on.

This redundancy makes the pair predictable as the game progresses. Opponents will see the draft and prioritize items like Force Staff or Pipe of Insight, which cripple both heroes' game plans at once. In a teamfight, they have to hope their initial burst is enough to delete a target. If it isn't, Muerta and Skywrath Mage are left as two fragile heroes in the backline who can't do much to save themselves or each other when the enemy turns on them. They lack the tools to reset and re-engage.
