Shadow Fiend + Templar Assassin

Why this works

Putting both Shadow Fiend and Templar Assassin on one team creates a difficult draft puzzle. Both heroes thrive as tempo-driven, physical damage cores who need the mid lane to accelerate. Placing one in the safelane doesn't solve the core issue: they compete for the same farm priority and resources. Both want to hit a critical item timing, like a Blink Dagger, and take over the map. When a team has two heroes with such similar goals, it often leaves the lineup without a durable frontline or reliable hard control, making it easy for opponents to dictate the pace of the game.

This tension over resources becomes clear in fights. Instead of setting each other up, both are looking for their own openings. Templar Assassin can't hold someone in place for Shadowrazes, and Shadow Fiend's Requiem slow is often too late for TA's burst window. Opponents exploit this by forcing fights before either hero has a BKB, focusing one down, and then cleaning up the other. The path to victory becomes very narrow, relying on both cores dominating their lanes independently, because they offer little direct support for one another.
