Why this works

Teamfights often hinge on Phoenix casting Supernova. When the egg is down, the enemy team is forced to divert their attacks to destroy it or face a huge stun. This is the exact opening Phantom Assassin needs to use Phantom Strike on a vulnerable backline hero. For a few crucial seconds, she's not the primary target and can deal her damage uninterrupted. Phoenix’s Fire Spirits also apply a heavy attack speed slow, which not only cripples an enemy carry but also makes it significantly harder for them to destroy the Supernova egg in time.

The effectiveness of this duo depends entirely on how those mid-game fights play out. A good Phantom Assassin waits for the enemy to commit to hitting the egg before she reveals herself and jumps in. The plan falls apart, however, if the enemy team has enough coordinated burst to destroy the egg quickly. Without the distraction or the eventual stun from a successful Supernova, PA is left exposed and without a real setup. This makes the synergy helpful in the right circumstances but not something you can always rely on.
