Phantom Assassin + Queen of Pain

Why this works

Putting two heroes with similar kill patterns on the same team can create some awkwardness. Both Queen of Pain and Phantom Assassin want to find an isolated target and blow them up. The problem is that they don't really help each other do it. Queen of Pain offers a slow with Shadow Strike, but what Phantom Assassin really wants is a hard stun to guarantee she can get her damage off. Both heroes are also quite fragile and rely on their mobility to survive, meaning the lineup often lacks a durable frontliner to create space or absorb spells for them.

This overlap means they often compete for the same space and farm on the map. During teamfights, both heroes are looking to flank the backline, which can work, but it also means your team might lack a solid core to hit the enemy frontline. If the game starts to go badly, this duo offers very little in the way of defensive tools or wave clear to stall for a comeback. Their kits don't have conflicting abilities, but they also don't add up to much more than the sum of their parts, leading to a slightly disjointed game plan.
