Phoenix + Templar Assassin

Why this works

Pairing these two heroes forces a team to choose between two very different game plans. Phoenix thrives in long, drawn-out teamfights, burning enemies down with Fire Spirits and Sun Ray. Templar Assassin wants the opposite: to instantly delete a single priority target with a Meld strike. While Phoenix’s slows can theoretically set up a kill, he provides almost no tools to help her survive. More importantly, Templar Assassin’s kit is built to execute a single target, not control the multiple heroes that will inevitably focus a Supernova egg.

This conflict in style means they rarely operate on the same wavelength. Templar Assassin looks for solo pick-offs on the map edges, while Phoenix waits for the enemy to group up. When the Supernova finally drops, TA is often helpless. She has no way to peel for the egg, and the enemies grouped around it will quickly shred her Refraction with incidental spell damage. She’s often forced to either abandon the fight or die trying to burst one of the many heroes attacking the egg.
