Puck + Skywrath Mage

Why this works

Attempting to burst a single target shows the awkwardness of this pairing. Both Puck and Skywrath Mage offer powerful silences, but using Waning Rift and Ancient Seal on the same hero at the same time feels inefficient. While the magic amplification from Ancient Seal is always helpful, the overlapping control doesn't layer well. The bigger issue comes from their ultimates. Puck's Dream Coil is a great teamfight spell, but a target leashed by it can still move around, making it a poor setup for Skywrath's concentrated Mystic Flare. Skywrath really prefers a hard, single-target stun to guarantee his damage, which Puck doesn't provide.

This duo creates a lineup that is often too greedy and fragile. Both heroes are farm-dependent magic damage dealers who want to dictate the game's pace at the exact same time. This makes the team's strategy very predictable, allowing opponents to easily counter with early magic resistance and BKBs. Even after winning a fight, the pair struggles to secure objectives like towers or Roshan because they both lack sustained physical damage and durability. This inability to convert kills into map control gives the enemy team space to recover and eventually overpower them in later stages of the game.
