Pudge + Clockwerk

Why this works

Hookshotting an enemy into Power Cogs creates an ideal setup, but Pudge often ruins it. Landing a Meat Hook on the trapped target pulls them out of the cogs, away from Clockwerk, and often to safety. This completely breaks the initiation, leaving Clockwerk isolated and his spell combo wasted. Both heroes want to be the one starting the fight from the fog of war, leading them to compete for the same positions on the map. Their spell ranges and timings simply don't line up well for ganking the same person.

This awkwardness continues throughout the game. Clockwerk wants to jump on a backline hero, but a follow-up Dismember from Pudge is difficult unless he's already in the middle of the fight, which isn't his usual position. For this pairing to find any success, they have to coordinate their targets perfectly, having one hero lock down a secondary threat while the other goes on the primary. More often, they're forced to act like two solo heroes who happen to be on the same team, which is a poor use of their potential.
