Why this works

Setting up kills is straightforward for this pair. A Meat Hook into Dismember creates a long disable, and Wraith King can easily follow up with his stun to extend the lockdown even further. This makes ganks incredibly reliable, as the target is held in place for both heroes to apply their damage. Pudge brings the enemy in, and Wraith King provides the sustained physical damage and reliable stun to ensure they don't walk away. It’s a simple, low-coordination combo that is effective from the first few levels.

This dynamic creates a difficult problem for the enemy team all game. Wraith King’s game plan is to become a durable frontliner who can’t be ignored, and having Pudge on his team reinforces this. As Wraith King confidently walks at the enemy, drawing attention and spells, Pudge gets free reign to find a hook on a vulnerable backline hero. If the enemy team does manage to focus and kill Wraith King, the massive slow from Reincarnation provides a perfect setup for Pudge to land a game-winning hook or Dismember on a retreating opponent.
