Pudge + Windranger

Why this works

Landing a Meat Hook to set up a Shackleshot feels like the whole point of this pairing, but the execution can be awkward. Pudge often wants to immediately Dismember a hooked target, which is usually enough lockdown on its own. This can make Windranger's stun feel a bit redundant or force the two players to coordinate perfectly on a very tight timer. Furthermore, where a hooked enemy lands is not always ideal for a two-hero Shackleshot, making the follow-up less consistent than it might seem on paper.

Both heroes thrive on finding pickoffs, so a team with Pudge and Windranger can sometimes have too much of the same thing. They can dominate the map if they get early kills and snowball, but they also create a weakness. If the enemy team decides to group up and force fights, both heroes struggle to contribute effectively against a five-hero push. The game plan becomes very one-dimensional, and if that plan of securing early ganks fails, the team often lacks the tools for traditional teamfighting or high-ground defense later on.
