The raw burst is high, and a Nether Ward nearby punishes any spell-based attempts to turn the fight around. The main issue is that this pairing commits almost entirely to one damage type. They also lack hard lockdown, meaning a target who isn't immediately bursted might simply be able to walk away from the setup.

In practice, both heroes tend to want the same core role and farm priority, which can create friction. Their goal is to dominate the mid-game with pickoffs and tower pressure from Nether Blast. Pugna can use Life Drain to sustain an aggressive Queen of Pain, but their shared game plan has a clear expiration date. Once enemy heroes get Black King Bars or a Pipe of Insight, this duo's impact falls off a cliff. Their success depends heavily on securing an early lead before their magic-heavy strategy gets countered.
