Queen of Pain + Clockwerk

Why this works

Catching a hero with Hookshot often creates an awkward situation for this pairing. On paper, Clockwerk provides the lockdown for Queen of Pain to deliver her burst damage. In practice, his Cogs can easily block her line of sight for Sonic Wave or even trap her after she Blinks in for the kill. Both heroes also deal primarily magic damage in the early and mid-game, which means the enemy team can itemize efficiently with magic resistance to counter their entire ganking strategy. This shared damage profile makes their combined burst less threatening than it might appear.

To make this work, the coordination has to be perfect. Clockwerk needs to position his Cogs so Queen of Pain has a clear path to attack and, more importantly, a path to escape. If they can't get early kills before enemies build items like a Pipe of Insight, their impact drops off. Opponents will naturally group up, making Clockwerk's single-target isolation less effective and exposing QoP if she tries to commit. When their initial burst fails to secure a kill, the duo offers little else to win a prolonged teamfight.
