Sand King + Techies

Why this works

Setting up kills with a Burrowstrike gives Techies a perfect window to land his abilities. The stun from Sand King holds an enemy in place long enough for a Sticky Bomb to connect or for Blast Off! to land without the target walking away. This turns a single-target stun into a much more significant burst of damage. Even a short stun can be enough for Techies to start stacking slows, making it very difficult for a hero to escape once caught. The two can effectively hunt together from the early game onward, finding pickoffs on isolated targets across the map.

The effectiveness of this pairing depends on how much the two heroes commit to playing together. Both Sand King and Techies often want to farm different parts of the map; Sand King clearing creep waves and jungle camps, while Techies sets up defensive minefields or pushes lanes from a distance. If they don't coordinate their movements, they can end up as two separate heroes who happen to be on the same team. When they do connect for a gank it is threatening, but against good map awareness or defensive items, they may not find the opportunities they need.
