Sand King + Ursa

Why this works

Getting these two heroes online can feel slow, as they often compete for similar farm priority and map space to get their Blink Daggers. The core issue is that their kits don't mesh perfectly. Sand King wants to set up big, multi-hero stuns with Burrowstrike for his Epicenter. Ursa, on the other hand, is a single-target specialist who needs to isolate one hero and overwhelm them with Fury Swipes. While a stun is always good for Ursa, he doesn't bring the follow-up that capitalizes on Sand King's large-scale area damage, making the pairing feel slightly redundant.

This tension plays out in mid-game teamfights where the initiation can be awkward. If Sand King lands a perfect multi-hero setup, Ursa can still only hit one person at a time. If Ursa blinks on a backline support, Sand King might be forced to use his cooldowns sub-optimally to save him or follow up on a less important kill. Both heroes want to be the primary playmaker, but their goals are different. This often forces one of them into a less comfortable, reactive role, which can blunt the draft's overall impact, even if they secure an easy Roshan together.
