Skywrath Mage + Slardar

Why this works

Setting up a kill with Corrosive Haze primarily helps physical attackers, and since Skywrath Mage deals magic damage, Slardar's signature debuff does nothing to boost the impact of a Mystic Flare. The whole point of reducing armor is lost on a hero whose spells ignore it completely. While Slardar's Slithereen Crush does offer a stun to hold a target in place, and Skywrath can add a silence, the core damage amplification from the duo is working at cross-purposes. This fundamental mismatch is what makes their partnership feel inconsistent from game to game.

In practice, the pair often relies on another core to take advantage of the armor reduction, turning Skywrath Mage into a secondary source of control and finishing damage. Ganks can feel disjointed; Slardar wants to bash a target to death with physical damage, while Skywrath is looking to unload a full magic combo. If the enemy is tough enough to survive the initial stun, the follow-up can fall apart as each hero tries to execute a different plan. Success often depends more on the enemy's mistakes than on this duo's own strengths.
