Why this works

Facing down a Warlock and a Skywrath Mage duo means dealing with a massive amount of stacked magical damage. Warlock's Fatal Bonds can link a team together, ensuring that Skywrath Mage's full combo on one target gets spread to several others. The initial stun from Chaotic Offering also provides a perfect window for Skywrath to land Mystic Flare without needing to rely on his own silence. The major issue is that both heroes are backliners who need setup to be effective. Outside of Warlock's ultimate, their combined lockdown is limited to slows, which isn't always enough to hold a target in place.

The pairing is strongest when their big ultimates are available and land on key targets. Fights without Chaotic Offering can be awkward, as both heroes are fragile and easy to run down. They lack a reliable way to save each other or their cores from being initiated on. Since both Warlock and Skywrath Mage primarily deal magic damage, enemy item choices like Pipe of Insight or Black King Bar become doubly effective, neutralizing a huge part of the team's contribution all at once. This makes their game impact very dependent on timing and enemy drafts.
