Slardar + Slark

Why this works

Playing for pickoffs with this pair can feel straightforward. Slardar's Corrosive Haze amplifies Slark's physical damage, and a Slithereen Crush can set up a guaranteed Pounce. Both heroes are mobile and excel at chasing down a single target once it's been identified. The potential for aggressive ganks exists from the early mid-game, and if they get a kill or two, they can try to control parts of the map. However, the synergy is often more theoretical than practical, as both heroes want similar things at the same time.

The core issue is that both Slardar and Slark occupy a similar space. They are both melee cores who want to get ahead early and snowball by finding kills. This can lead to them competing for farm and gank opportunities, slowing both of them down. The strategy is also very one-dimensional; if the enemy team groups up, has strong saves, or simply avoids getting picked off, this duo doesn't offer much else. They lack strong wave clear and can struggle against lineups that force five-on-five fights before they've built a significant lead.
