Slardar + Ursa

Why this works

Trying to bring down a single high-value target often feels like overkill with this pairing. Both Slardar and Ursa want to close the distance and unload physical damage on one hero. Slardar’s Corrosive Haze is a huge armor reduction, but Ursa’s Fury Swipes already lets him melt a single opponent on his own. Stacking these effects on the same hero is effective, but it’s also redundant. The core problem is that you have two heroes filling a very similar role, which often leaves your team without other important tools like magic damage, wave clear, or area control.

This lineup can have a strong timing for taking Roshan and picking off heroes who are out of position. However, good opponents will recognize that your team’s damage is mostly single-target and physical. They can respond with items that grant armor or provide disengage, like a Ghost Scepter or Force Staff. If that initial burst attempt fails to secure a kill, both Ursa and Slardar can be kited and left without a good follow-up plan. The draft is a bit predictable and can struggle if the game calls for a different approach.
