Slark + Warlock

Why this works

Thinking this pairing lacks a clear plan is a common mistake. While Slark hunts single targets and Warlock controls teamfights, their kits can line up well. A good Fatal Bonds from Warlock means Slark's focus on one hero will soften up the entire enemy team, making it easier for him to find his next victim. Warlock’s Chaotic Offering also provides excellent setup, dropping a long stun that gives Slark all the time he needs to Pounce on a key target and start building up his attributes without immediate retaliation.

In practice, this means Warlock often sets the stage and Slark gets the kills. A mid-game fight can hinge on Warlock finding a good Golem; if he does, Slark can clean up as the enemy is stunned, slowed by Upheaval, and linked by Fatal Bonds. The whole thing falls apart if Warlock is initiated on first, or if the enemy team can survive the initial stun and turn on an overextended Slark. The success of this duo really depends on which team gets the jump, making the outcome feel pretty even.
