Viper + Windranger

Why this works

Trying to lock down a single enemy with this pair often feels redundant. While Viper's slows from Poison Attack should theoretically give Windranger an easier Shackleshot, it is not a reliable setup. The target is still moving, and a slow does not guarantee a stun. When they do commit their ultimates, Viper Strike and Focus Fire, on the same hero, it is usually massive overkill. This dedication of two powerful single-target spells to one kill leaves them with few resources to handle the rest of the fight, making their combined impact much less than the sum of its parts.

This dynamic forces them into a one-dimensional game plan. They can excel at getting a single pick-off, but they struggle immensely once the enemy team starts grouping. Neither hero provides the area-of-effect damage or control needed to win a full teamfight or efficiently defend high ground against a push. Opponents can often counter this duo's entire strategy by simply staying together, leaving the Viper and Windranger unable to find the isolated targets they need to be effective, and feeling quite weak as a result.
