Warlock + Windranger

Why this works

Lining up a Shackleshot with Chaotic Offering seems like it should guarantee a kill, but these two heroes often want to fight in different ways. Windranger excels at isolating and bursting down a single high-priority hero with Focus Fire. She wants a clean pickoff before a fight properly breaks out. Warlock, on the other hand, gets the most value when he can land Fatal Bonds and his golem on a clumped-up team to maximize his area damage and disruption. This means one hero's ideal setup often isn't the other's, leading to awkward engagements where their biggest spells don't fully complement each other.

The pairing can find some success in lane, but things get complicated as teams start grouping. In larger fights, Windranger might successfully eliminate her shackled target before Fatal Bonds gets to spread much damage around. Conversely, a big Warlock ultimate can leave Windranger trying to pick one target out of the chaos instead of getting the solo kill she specializes in. They don't actively work against each other, but they rarely amplify each other's core game plan, making the partnership feel less impactful than it looks on paper.
