Rat King in Deadlock: win rate, pick rate, top counters and best teammates, from Batru's recent-match pipeline.
Picking apart squishy burst heroes is where Rat King shines. Paradox, Pocket, and Mirage all want to dart in, land their combo, and reset, but Royal Pestments lets him shrug off that opening burst and stay in the fight while they burn cooldowns. Swarm of Rats keeps chipping them while they try to disengage, and Scrap Grenade punishes anyone hugging cover in a lane. He has no glaring hard counter, so the risk is less about who's across from you and more about committing Banner of Rattania at the wrong moment. Draft tip: pick him when the enemy relies on in-and-out burst assassins.

All Rat King counters →He wants frontline partners who turn a planted banner into a real fight. Abrams is the cleanest fit, since he dives in and holds ground exactly where Banner of Rattania does the most good, soaking attention while Rat King's rats and grenade pile on sustained damage. Rat King brings staying power to the brawl, so Abrams can commit deeper without folding. The payoff is a teamfight you can stand in longer than the other side, which lets an aggressive teammate press advantages instead of backing off.
