Underlord vs Doom

How this matchup plays

Laning against Underlord can feel miserable for a hero like Doom. The damage reduction from Atrophy Aura makes it much harder for Doom to secure last hits or trade blows effectively. Later on, standing your ground is also a problem, as Pit of Malice can easily root you in place while Firestorm rains down. Underlord himself is also a terrible target for the Doom ultimate. He is naturally very tanky, and his most important spells are often area-denial effects that have already been cast, making the silence less impactful.

However, a good Doom player is rarely trying to kill the Underlord. Doom's goal is to bypass the frontline and use his ultimate on a more critical, fragile hero in the back. While Underlord excels at protecting a specific area, he can't always stop Doom from finding and deleting a core before the fight truly begins. The entire game becomes a push-and-pull of positioning. Underlord tries to force fights on his terms inside his zones of control, while Doom constantly probes for an opening to get a pickoff and create an advantage.
