Underlord vs Ember Spirit

How this matchup plays

Slowing down Ember Spirit's map pressure often relies on having ground-targeted lockdown that he can't easily dodge. Underlord provides this with Pit of Malice, which can root Ember even if he's in the middle of a Sleight of Fist. This creates a brief but crucial window for follow-up stuns and damage. Stacking Firestorm on top of the Pit makes it a punishing place to be caught, and the passive damage reduction from Atrophy Aura can blunt the impact of Ember's physical attacks during a teamfight.

This interaction means Ember Spirit has to be more deliberate about his positioning and aggression. He can't simply jump into a fight if Underlord is present and has his abilities ready. The threat of getting rooted forces a more cautious approach, potentially delaying his item timings or reducing his impact in mid-game skirmishes. A good Ember will try to play away from Underlord, split pushing or waiting for the Pit to be used on someone else. It's a solvable problem for the Ember player, but it does add a layer of difficulty to his game plan.
