Underlord vs Lich

How this matchup plays

Fighting into an enemy core protected by Frost Shield can be frustrating for Underlord. His plan often involves locking targets down with Pit of Malice and burning them with Firestorm, but the shield's damage reduction and slow gives his target time to escape the combo. Atrophy Aura helps his team survive the physical damage from Lich's allies, creating a standoff of damage mitigation. Lich himself is a prime target for Underlord's lockdown, as he's fragile and lacks mobility, forcing him to play cautiously from the back lines where he can't press an advantage.

This dynamic often results in a passive lane where Underlord focuses on farming and shoving waves, while Lich secures farm for his own core. Neither hero can easily secure solo kills. In teamfights, the outcome depends on which team gets better initiation. If Underlord's team can isolate Lich, he dies instantly. But if Lich's team can force Underlord's allies to group up to fight inside the Pit, a good Chain Frost can be devastating. The powerful area control from both heroes tends to cancel out, making it hard for either one to consistently take over the game.
