Underlord vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Placing Plague Wards against an Underlord feels like a waste of mana. A single cast of Firestorm clears an entire nest, completely neutralizing Venomancer's primary tool for vision, lane control, and push. This makes it impossible for him to establish the foothold he needs to be effective. Atrophy Aura further compounds this problem by reducing the base attack damage from Venomancer and his wards, weakening his harass and making it difficult for him to trade blows or last hit effectively in the lane.

This dynamic shapes the entire game. Venomancer wants to create a defensive web of wards to control chokepoints and defend objectives, but Underlord methodically burns it all down from a safe distance before a fight even starts. Underlord’s team can then push aggressively behind him, leaving the Venomancer player without their main source of sustained damage and map control. Trying to poke and kite is difficult when your frontline can’t hold position and your primary damage source is being constantly erased.
