Underlord vs Windranger

How this matchup plays

Trying to melt a target with Focus Fire gets a lot harder when that target is standing next to an Underlord. His Atrophy Aura naturally reduces the physical damage Windranger outputs, making her signature spell feel much weaker in teamfights. She relies on Windrun to stay safe and reposition, but Underlord's Pit of Malice provides a wide, persistent area that can easily root her in place. This combination of damage reduction and reliable lockdown makes it difficult for Windranger to execute her normal game plan.

A smart Windranger will try to play the map away from Underlord, using Powershot to farm and looking for pickoffs on lone heroes. The problem is that Underlord wants to group up and force fights where his auras give his whole team an advantage. This pressures Windranger to either join fights where she's less effective or split off and risk getting caught alone. While she can certainly still find opportunities, Underlord’s presence consistently makes her job more complicated from the mid-game onward.
