Alchemist vs Invoker

How this matchup plays

Charging up Unstable Concoction against an Invoker is a risky proposition. Invoker has multiple ways to interrupt the channel and punish the attempt, with Cold Snap being the most direct answer. If Alchemist commits to a fight, Invoker can use spells like Tornado or Ice Wall to create distance and kite him, preventing Alchemist from landing his stun or continuous attacks. While Acid Spray helps Alchemist farm and reduces armor, it doesn't stop Invoker from controlling the fight from a distance with his spell combinations. Alchemist wants to get on top of heroes, and Invoker is built to keep them at arm's length.

The matchup often comes down to item timings and who gets the initiation. A well-played Invoker can disrupt Alchemist's farm and delay his core items with global pressure from Sun Strike. However, once Alchemist gets his key items and Chemical Rage, he can often survive Invoker’s initial burst and close the gap, especially with a Black King Bar. The game then becomes a cat-and-mouse chase where Alchemist tries to force a fight before his BKB runs out, and Invoker has to position perfectly to stay alive and control the now-magic-immune threat.
