Alchemist vs Mars

How this matchup plays

Choosing Mars into an Alchemist draft feels like you’re on a timer. The core problem for Mars is that his control abilities, like Arena of Blood, are meant to lock down and kill targets, but they don't solve the real issue. A farmed Alchemist with Chemical Rage has such massive regeneration that he can often out-sustain the damage inside the arena, especially after buying a Black King Bar. Furthermore, Alchemist's Acid Spray shreds armor, making Mars much less durable against physical attacks despite his Bulwark. Mars simply can't keep Alchemist down permanently, while Alchemist’s tools directly undermine what makes Mars effective.

The entire game becomes a race against the clock. Mars has to leverage his strong laning phase and mid-game fighting peak to win before Alchemist gets out of control. This means constant pressure, successful ganks, and taking objectives with his team. Alchemist, on the other hand, only needs to find pockets of farm to hit his critical item timings. More often than not, Alchemist wins this race, emerging from the jungle with items that Mars and his team cannot handle. By the time Mars wants to group and fight, Alchemist is already a raid boss.
