Alchemist vs Rubick

How this matchup plays

Stealing an Unstable Concoction can feel very impactful. Rubick gets access to a powerful area-of-effect stun that he can combo with his own Telekinesis, often setting up kills from a safe distance. Since Alchemist needs to use this spell to gank or fight, there are usually opportunities for Rubick to grab it. The main drawback is that Alchemist can sometimes throw his stun and immediately use Chemical Rage, giving Rubick a narrow window to react. Stealing Acid Spray is far less useful, making the whole interaction dependent on stealing that one key spell.

The outcome of this matchup often comes down to mid-game skirmishes. A successful Spell Steal on Alchemist’s stun can completely reverse a gank, leaving Alchemist overextended and vulnerable. A good Rubick will wait for Alchemist to commit and then punish him. However, if Alchemist gets his farm timing and can simply run at Rubick, the stolen spell might not matter. Alchemist can also try to bait Spell Steal with Acid Spray before using his stun. This creates a tense mind game where a single misplay from either hero can decide the fight, leaving neither with a consistent edge.
