Alchemist vs Shadow Shaman

How this matchup plays

Running at a support during Chemical Rage feels like the right play, but against Shadow Shaman it's often a trap. His ability to chain Hex and Shackles can lock Alchemist in place for a dangerously long time. This wastes the precious seconds of Alchemist's ultimate, denying him both the regeneration and the attack speed he relies on to win fights. An Alchemist caught by Shaman is an easy target for the rest of his team, turning what should be his strongest moment into a liability.

The whole game becomes a race against the clock. Shadow Shaman's goal is to repeatedly disrupt Alchemist's farm with ganks, delaying the items he needs to survive. In teamfights, Shaman's job is to find and disable Alchemist before he can activate his items and start hitting people. The matchup leans this way because Shaman is so good at dictating the pace. If Alchemist falls behind, he struggles to catch up, but if he manages to secure a Black King Bar on schedule, he can often shrug off Shaman's control and run the game.
