Shadow Shaman is a lockdown-and-push support whose Shackles + Hex double-disable chains a hero for ages, and whose Mass Serpent Wards shred buildings. He dominates immobile, low-escape heroes: Timbersaw, Tinker and Nature's Prophet get chained to death. He's countered by illusion/summon armies and scalers that ignore single-target lock: Spectre, Meepo and Phantom Lancer bring too many bodies for two disables to handle. Draft tip: Shadow Shaman is a premium pickoff + push pick into single-target-reliant drafts; he's weaker into illusion/summon comps and late-game hard-carries.

Shadow Shaman delivers one of the longest single-target locks in the game plus a wave of pushing Wards — he wants burst follow-up and a tower-siege plan. He pairs best with snowball carries and AoE: Spectre and Wraith King finish whoever he Shackles, while Dawnbreaker and Phoenix provide the front line and AoE for fights. Tidehunter loves the grouped pushes. Give Shadow Shaman a carry that punishes a locked hero, and his Wards take the map.
