Arc Warden vs Bristleback

How this matchup plays

Shrinking the map against an Arc Warden is the core of this matchup. Bristleback excels at this because he’s naturally durable against the physical damage that Arc Warden and his Tempest Double rely on. Arc Warden’s main defensive tool, Magnetic Field, grants evasion against attacks, but it does nothing to stop the constant, stacking damage from Quill Spray. While Arc Warden tries to kite from inside his bubble, Bristleback can simply run at him, repeatedly applying Viscous Nasal Goo to slow him and shred his armor, making an escape almost impossible.

This dynamic allows Bristleback to dictate the game's pace. He can group up with his team and push towers, forcing a reaction. Arc Warden’s double is poor at defending against a hero who can run past it and threaten the tower or the real hero hiding behind it. Arc Warden is then faced with a difficult choice: use his double to farm and cede map control, or use it to defend and risk feeding gold to an already snowballing Bristleback. Arc Warden’s success often depends entirely on his team's ability to control Bristleback for him.
