Trying to land a full combo on Arc Warden presents a classic dilemma for Skywrath Mage. While Skywrath's magic burst from abilities like Mystic Flare completely ignores the evasion from Magnetic Field, he can only target one hero at a time. Committing his silence and ultimate on the real Arc Warden can secure a kill, but if he guesses wrong and hits the Tempest Double, he's left with nothing while the real hero is free to attack. Arc Warden's goal is to create this confusion and force a mistake, while Skywrath needs perfect information to be effective.

This dynamic often makes the laning stage favorable for Skywrath Mage, who can bully a solo Arc Warden with his superior harass. As the game goes on, however, the matchup tends to even out.
