Picking a hero into Arc Warden often means finding someone who can survive his burst and close the gap, which is why Tidehunter is such a reliable counter. Tidehunter’s immense durability, bolstered by Kraken Shell, makes him nearly impossible for Arc Warden to focus down with his Tempest Double. Any attempt to control him with slows like Flux is immediately purged by the passive, allowing Tide to ignore Spark Wraiths and simply walk up to his fragile target. It's a fundamental mismatch of kits; one hero wants to kite and poke, while the other is designed to shrug off that kind of damage.

This dynamic forces the entire game to revolve around Tidehunter's initiation. Arc Warden wants to split the map and create pressure from two places at once, but he can't do that safely. A single successful Blink Dagger into Ravage from Tidehunter can catch both the real hero and his clone, completely removing Arc Warden from a teamfight.
