Catching Outworld Destroyer is the whole game for Axe. A good Blink Dagger into Berserker's Call can lock OD down and remove him from a fight before he can react. Because OD is so fragile, he usually can't survive the duration, and Culling Blade secures the kill against any last-second saves. Outworld Destroyer's main defense is a well-timed Astral Imprisonment, which can save himself or an ally caught in the Call. This makes the initiation a high-stakes test of positioning and reaction time for both players.

As the game progresses, Axe sets the tempo. His constant threat forces OD to play much more cautiously, always worried about being initiated on from the fog of war. An Outworld Destroyer will prioritize items like a Force Staff or even a Blink Dagger of his own for repositioning.
