Head-to-head Dota 2 7.41f win rate from ranked matches.
In Dota 2 7.41f, Wraith King wins the Axe vs Wraith King matchup: Wraith King beats Axe in 55.37% of 114,555 ranked matches.
Trying to land a Culling Blade on Wraith King is a losing proposition. Axe's entire teamfight plan relies on getting that kill for a reset, but Reincarnation means it never happens. Instead of starting a chain reaction, Axe uses his ultimate, sees Wraith King die, and then gets swarmed by the enemy team when he comes back to life a moment later. It completely breaks Axe's momentum. The swarm of skeletons he summons also makes it harder to land a clean Berserker's Call on high-priority backline targets.
This core interaction shapes the entire game. Axe wants to find decisive pickoffs, but Wraith King is a frontline target he can't actually eliminate. Committing Blink and a full combo on him is a trap, as he simply gets up again while his team punishes the overextended Axe. Wraith King can comfortably itemize for durability, knowing his second life negates Axe's finishing move. To have an impact, Axe is forced to try and play around the one hero he should be countering, which is an uphill battle from the start.
