How this matchup plays

Thinking you can burst Axe with Tiny's combo is usually a trap. Axe is naturally durable enough to survive the initial Avalanche and Toss. Once the combo is over, Tiny is stuck in melee range with no spells. This is perfect for Axe, who can use Berserker's Call and force Tiny to trigger a ton of Counter Helix spins. The very thing that makes Tiny a threat—getting close to unload damage—is exactly what Axe wants his opponents to do, making it a very difficult fight for Tiny to win.

From the laning stage onward, Axe dictates the terms of engagement. He can cut waves, forcing Tiny into awkward positions early. Later, a Blink Dagger allows Axe to jump and lock down Tiny with Berserker's Call before the combo even starts, neutralizing his initiation. Tiny’s only real option is to play far from Axe, which is hard for a hero who wants to be in the fight. This core conflict also helps explain why they tend to struggle on the same team; their methods for starting a fight work against each other.
