How this matchup plays

Controlling Roshan or trying to burst a single target is where Ursa often finds himself in trouble against Axe. Ursa relies on building up Fury Swipes damage with a flurry of quick attacks from Overpower. The problem is that Axe's Berserker's Call forces those attacks onto himself. While taunted, Ursa rapidly hits Axe, giving Counter Helix many chances to trigger. The resulting pure damage spins ignore the damage reduction from Ursa's Enrage, meaning he can quickly kill himself while Axe sits comfortably with bonus armor. It fundamentally turns Ursa's main strength into a liability.

This dynamic shapes the entire game. An offlane Axe can dominate his lane, slowing down Ursa's farm and delaying his key timings for items like a Blink Dagger. Later on, Ursa has to play cautiously around teamfights, constantly aware of Axe's initiation range. He’s forced to either bait out the Berserker's Call or hope it's used on a different target before he can safely commit. For Axe's team, this means they can play more aggressively, knowing their initiator has a built-in way to neutralize the enemy's primary physical damage dealer.
