Axe vs Vengeful Spirit

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map often stalls out as both teams are afraid to commit to a fight. Axe's entire game plan of blinking in for a Berserker's Call is undermined by a single Vengeful Spirit ability. A perfect initiation can be instantly undone by Nether Swap, which plucks Axe out of the fight and leaves him stranded deep in enemy territory. With his armor shredded by Wave of Terror, Axe often dies before his team can even react, turning his best move into a fatal mistake.

This creates a constant duel of positioning and reaction time. Axe has to try and find Vengeful Spirit first, hoping to kill her before she can use Swap, or bait the ability on a less important target. Venge's job is to stay far enough back to avoid getting caught by the initial blink-in, but close enough to save whichever core Axe manages to jump on. The outcome of a teamfight really hinges on which of these two heroes uses their key spell more effectively, making the whole engagement feel like a toss-up.
